The Rio Grande City Public Library celebrated the retirement of Youth Coordinator and ESL Reading Teacher Yolanda Riojas on Thursday, honoring her 12 years of dedicated service to the community.
Mrs. Riojas, a beloved figure at the library, has left a lasting impact through her efforts to foster a love of reading among young residents and support English-language learners. Her contributions include organizing youth programs, curating educational resources, and inspiring countless children and families in the area.
“Yolanda has been the heart and soul of our youth programs,” said Norma Fultz, Director of the Rio Grande City Public Library. “Her creativity, passion, and unwavering commitment to our community have shaped the library into a welcoming space for learning and growth. We will miss her dearly but wish her all the best in this exciting new chapter of her life.”
During the celebration, city officials and library staff presented Mrs. Riojas with a plaque recognizing her years of service. Guests shared heartfelt stories about her impact, many crediting her with nurturing a sense of belonging and joy within the library walls.
