Rio Grande City is introducing its inaugural Spay & Neuter Voucher Program, offering free access to essential pet care services for local residents. The program, aimed at promoting healthier and happier lives for pets, will provide 100 vouchers on a first-come, first-served basis.
The initiative is available exclusively to Rio Grande City residents, who must provide proof of residency, such as a water or light bill, to qualify. Each household can receive vouchers for up to two pets.
“We’re excited to launch this program as part of our commitment to supporting responsible pet ownership and enhancing the well-being of animals in our community,” said Mayor Gilberto Falcon. “It’s a great step toward fostering a more compassionate and healthier environment for pets and their families.”
Vouchers will be available for pickup starting Dec. 2 at the Rio Grande City Police Department, located at 650 N FM 755. The services will be provided by the Texas Wellness Spay & Neuter Clinic, a trusted provider specializing in affordable veterinary care.
City officials encourage eligible residents to take advantage of the program to help control the pet population and improve animal welfare in the community.
