Rio Grande City Hosts Annual 'Grito' Celebration


Rio Grande City celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month and Mexico's 16 de Septiembre holiday with its annual "Grito en el Kiosko Y Noche de Mercado" event on Saturday, September 14. The festivities took place at the historic downtown Kiosko on Britton Avenue, drawing crowds for an evening of cultural celebration.



The event featured live Mariachi music, a bustling market, games, contests, and an electrifying Lucha Libre exhibition, capturing the vibrant spirit of the occasion. The City's 'Grito' event has become a beloved tradition in Rio Grande City, providing the community with a festive atmosphere that honors Hispanic heritage.


“The Grito en el Kiosko is a special time for our city to come together and celebrate our rich cultural history,” said Mayor Gilberto Falcon. “This event brings our community closer and allows us to honor the traditions that have been passed down through generations.”


The annual celebration continues to be a highlight for residents, offering a blend of entertainment and cultural pride that reinforces the city's commitment to preserving and honoring its heritage.
