Rio Grande City Celebrates the Holiday Season with Fun Events

The holiday season is in full swing in Rio Grande City, with residents and city employees coming together over the past few days to enjoy festive events that continue to bring joy and smiles to everyone.



One of the most popular events was the 'Tip a Cop for Toys' fundraiser at Chick-fil-A. Local police officers served customers, and all tips and donations will go to buying toys for kids in Rio Grande City. The event was a big success and will undoubtedly help brighten the season for many families.





The Rio Grande City Public Library hosted a Storybook Christmas event, where families enjoyed holiday stories read by local volunteers. The event also featured crafts and and gift giving which brought children and parents together for a fun and magical experience.




Downtown was full of holiday cheer as the La Union Elementary Christmas Carolers sang classic carols at City Hall and other spots. Their beautiful voices spread Christmas joy to everyone who listened.



The city also celebrated its employees at the Employee Holiday Luncheon. The event honored the hard work of city employees with raffles, holiday bonuses, and special awards. Some employees were even recognized for working with the city for 25 years.



“The holidays are all about coming together and giving back,” said Rio Grande City Mayor Gilberto Falcon. “These events show how close and caring our community is.”


From fundraisers to caroling, Rio Grande City’s holiday events brought people together and spread the holiday spirit throughout the community.
