Rio Grande City Appoints Gilberto Milan as Interim City Manager



The Rio Grande City Commission appointed Planning Director Gilberto Milan, CPM, as the interim city manager during their regular June meeting on Tuesday, June 11. This meeting marked the first for recently elected officials Commissioner Ediel Barrera, Commissioner Eudolio Barrera III, and Mayor Gilberto Falcon.


Milan, who has been with the city since 2005, started as a code enforcement officer in the Planning Department and became the planning director in 2013. He holds a degree in political science from the University of Texas Pan-American and a Certification of Public Manager from the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley.


“We are pleased to appoint Mr. Gilberto Milan as our interim city manager,” said Mayor Falcon. “His extensive experience with the city and his dedication to public service make him an excellent choice to lead our administration during this transition period. We look forward to his continued contributions to the growth and development of Rio Grande City.”


Mayor Falcon also thanked Chief Noe Castillo for his time as deputy city manager. “We sincerely thank Chief Noe Castillo for his service and leadership, and we appreciate his dedication,” Falcon said.
