The Rio Grande City Police Department has expanded its fleet with the addition of two 2024 Chevrolet Silverado PPV vehicles, made possible through funding from the Operation Stonegarden FY23 grant.
The grant, part of a federal program aimed at enhancing law enforcement capabilities along border regions, provides resources to bolster public safety and support collaborative efforts among local, state, and federal agencies.
“These new vehicles represent another step forward in our commitment to providing our officers with the tools they need to keep Rio Grande City safe,” said Mayor Gilberto Falcon. “I commend our police department for its tireless efforts to secure state and federal funding that benefits our entire community.”
The Silverado PPV vehicles, designed for police use, are expected to enhance the department’s ability to respond to emergencies and patrol the city’s expanding areas effectively.
