Groundbreaking Ceremony Held for IHOP Restaurant in Rio Grande City


A groundbreaking ceremony for a new IHOP restaurant was held on July 30, 2024, marking the arrival of the popular dining chain to Rio Grande City. City officials, business leaders, and community members gathered to celebrate the occasion, which promises to bring new dining options and job opportunities to the area.


Mayor Gilberto Falcon, speaking on behalf of the city commission, expressed enthusiasm for the development and its anticipated positive impact on the community. "This is an exciting day for Rio Grande City," Mayor Falcon said. "The addition of IHOP not only provides our residents with more dining choices but also creates jobs and stimulates local economic growth. We are committed to fostering a business-friendly environment and welcome IHOP to our vibrant city."


The new IHOP, set to be located in the St. Ive's development along US Highway 83, and is expected to open its doors within a few months. The restaurant will feature the chain's signature menu items, including a variety of breakfast, lunch, and dinner options.


The new restaurant is anticipated to create numerous jobs, ranging from kitchen staff to management positions, further supporting the local economy.


Community members in attendance expressed their excitement about the new addition to Rio Grande City’s dining scene. The groundbreaking event concluded with the ceremonial turning of the soil, symbolizing the start of construction.
