A press release from the Roma ISD reports the Roma Middle School Symphonic Winds Band was recently named the 2C Texas Music Educators Association Honor Band for 2010. "Congratulations to the Roma Middle School Symphonic Winds Band," reads a statement from the Roma ISD Band Program Staff. "This title is the highest honor a middle school band can earn in the state of Texas, as it is equivalent to state championship."
According to the release, over 30,000 attendees from around the world experience the best professional development and inspiring performances at the TMEA Conference, the nation’s largest music educator convention.
The 2019-2020 Roma Middle School Symphonic Winds will present a featured concert at the 100th Annual TMEA Convention in February of 2020, in San Antonio, Texas.
The Roma Middle School Band is under the direction of Corey L. Graves, and supported by the Roma ISD Band Program staff including Dena Laurel, Maricruz Bustamante, Rebecca Cannon, Lizardo Hinojosa, Orlando Medrano, John Mireles, Olegario Lopez, Josue Ortega, Eden Perez, Moses Simon, Ivan Trevino and Jennifer Villarreal.
"A big thanks to the students for their dedication to their music studies and performance, as well as to the dedicated parents and family members who supported their student throughout the school year and summer," reads a statement from the district.
