RGC Public Utilities Dept. Offers Some Relief for Workers Hit by Shutdown



The City of Rio Grande City's Public Utilities Department announced today it will waive billing late-fees to customers directly affected by the ongoing partial federal government shutdown.

According P.U.D. director, Steven E. Cruz III, all late fees connected to Public Utilities bills will be waived, and services including water, sewer, and brush collection, will not be interrupted for any federal government employee who has not received a paycheck as a result of the shutdown.

To qualify for these exemptions, federal employees are asked to please present a valid Federal Government Issued Work I.D., and at least one P.U.D bill or pertaining account number to the Rio Grande Public Utilities Dept. located at 5332 E. US Hwy 83 Ste A, in Rio Grande City.

Once the partial government shutdown ends, customers who qualified for the exemptions will be allowed 60 days to bring their accounts current.
