The RGC Economic Development Corporation invites the entire community to to downtown Rio Grande City on Saturday, February 2, for a day of family fun, food & entertainment. The 11th Annual Rio Grande City Chili Showdown take place from 11:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. on Main Street & Britton Ave., and will feature cooking competitions in Pan de Campo, Fajitas, Charro Beans, and Chili. The event will also feature several different vendors and live music by Lucky Joe, Grupo Pegasso, Frutty Villarreal y Los Mavericks, Mario Bros., Sergio and Roping the Wind, and Tejano Knights.
"You'll find the finest cooking competitors, judging, live music all day, vendors and an evening of dancing at the Britton Avenue Quiosco under the stars taking place in Historic Downtown Rio Grande City," reads a statement from RGC EDC. The event is free and open to the public. Cook-Off prizes include brush jackets, buckles, coolers and cash prizes.
