The Rio Grande City Crime Stoppers received a $5,000 donation from H-E-B to go towards its annual toy-drive on Thursday evening, December 6, during the 15th annual Feast of Sharing celebration, held at Ringgold Elementary.
The Rio Grande City Crime Stoppers has been distributing toys to area children for over ten years with the help of several generous businesses, individuals and organizations. “Donations like these from [H-E-B] make it possible for us to continue this tradition and is greatly appreciated,” stated Rio Grande City Crime Stoppers spokesperson, Ana Ramirez.
Thursday's event marked the 15th annual Feast of Sharing event sponsored by H-E-B, and is described as the culmination of a year‑round commitment H‑E‑B makes to fighting hunger. In addition to a holiday meal attendees enjoyed music, arts and crafts, and kids activities.
According to H-E-B, an average Feast of Sharing dinner serves: 3,000 pounds of sliced turkey, 2,500 pounds of cornbread dressing, 750 pumpkin pies, 380 gallons of mashed potatoes, and 140 gallons of turkey gravy.
