The City of Rio Grande City and the United Way of South Texas teamed up last month to help local families stay cool this Summer.
Rio Grande City Mayor Joel Villarreal and the RGC Parks & Rec Dept. distributed fans to First Baptist Church, Starr County Pct. 4, and the Colonias Unidas organization. These groups will, in turn, distribute the fans to local families.
According the the United Way Organization's official website, the group strives to promote partnerships that maximize resources through a coordinated effort that unite the people of Hidalgo and Starr counties.
